California Community Colleges Athletic Seasons Suspended
If the Butte College Football team is going to play, it won't be this year.
Community Colleges all over the state had their athletic seasons suspended
by the Community College Governing Board.
The on-going Coronavirus pandemic has made it impossible to safely plan
for athletic competition. The soccer, volleyball, cross country, golf and men's
and women's basketball seasons are also being suspended.
The hope is that sports will return in 2021 and resume play at some point in
January. Spring sports, including baseball, softball and track-field would start their
seasons no sooner than late March.
The Governing Board also determined that if games are played the teams
in the Community College system would only play 70 percent of their normal
schedule.
